At Dignity we understand that different people like to spend their time doing different things. Daytime activities with Dignity Group reflects just that.
The Person Centred Plan that each service user helps to design is the basis for an individual programme of activities. This PCP will have identified goals that it would be good to work on to enable people to build on their skills for independence, so some of the daytime activities will involve opportunities to work towards those goals. Some of these goals might be things like:- money skills, personal hygiene, using the bus, using the telephone, road safety, anger management, shopping with a budget, preparing a simple meal etc.
Some people have specific hobbies or special interests and so their programme will include opportunities to engage in these activities with the help and support that they need. This might mean going out to explore community services, to take part in adult education courses, to try out work experience placements or to engage in local clubs and groups or volunteer projects. For others it might mean being actively involved in creative craft work, designing & making things, looking after animals, gardening, cooking, playing music, swimming, horse riding, dancing or any number of different activities.
